NEW ULTRASOUND UPGRADE
We are excited to introduce to the practice our newest addition in diagnostic imaging. It is the My Lab 40, a new state of the art ultrasound imaging system, allowing us to view and diagnose more accurately many abdominal and thoracic abnormalities that might be present. Specifically, we will now be capable of scanning thoroughly both the abdomen and the chest, allowing us to view, video, and even biopsy individual organs, such as the liver, spleen, etc. In the chest, we will be able to ultrasound the heart (echocardiogram / "echo") to determine chamber size, dimensions, color flow Doppler, cardiac muscle efficiency, valve function, and several other measurable cardiac parameters. This will allow us to more accurately diagnose and predict heart disease in both the dog and the cat.
We are also delighted that Dr. Brian Scansen, clinical assistant professor in cardiology and interventional radiology at The OSU Veterinary Hospital, will travel to the WVH on April 4, 2009 to train us further in cardiac imaging. Brian just completed a very selective fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania in interventional radiology and endoscopy. Our group is very excited to have Brian train us that day.
We will keep all of you updated on our "echo expertise" as we gain more and more experience with
the My Lab 40.
NEW RADIOGRAPHIC DIGITIZER
We have also added a radiographic enhancement process, the RDC (radiograph digital converter). This system allows us to digitize our radiographs, with distinct capabilities to enhance, modify, zoom, etc., thereby enabling us to fine tune our radiographic interpretations. By enhancing the image, we will be able to better visualize all of our xrays, and also store them more efficiently. We will be able to copy them to CD, as well as transmit them electronically if needed. The system will help us tremendously in our diagnostic accuracy. We have already reaped the benefits of this neat system. We hope you will share our excitement, as we move forward to provide the best possible health care for your pets.
